Goodreads Summary: Imagine a modern spin on Mary Shelly's Frankenstein where a young couple's undying love and the grief of a father pushed beyond sanity could spell the destruction of them all.

A string of suspicious deaths near a small Michigan town ends with a fall that claim the life of Emma Gentry's boyfriend, Daniel. Emma is broken, a hollow shell mechanically moving through her days. She and Daniel had been made for each other, complete only when they were together. Now she restlessly wanders the town in the late Fall gloom, haunting the cemetery and its white-marbled tombs, feeling Daniel everywhere, his spectre in the moonlight and the fog.

When she encounters newcomer Alex Franks, only son of a renowned widowed surgeon, she's intrigued despite herself. He's an enigma, melting into shadows, preferring to keep to himself. But he is as drawn to her as she is to him. He is strangely...familiar. From the way he knows how to open her locker when it sticks, to the nickname she shared only with Daniel, even with his hazel eyes his brown flecks are just like Daniel's.

The closer they become, though, the more something inside her screams there's something very wrong with Alex Franks. And when Emma stumbles across a grotesque and terrifying menagerie of a mangle but living animals within the walls of the Franks' estate, creatures she surely knows must have died from their injuries, she knows.

I found the premise of Broken to be quite intriguing. In fact, throughout the whole story, I found myself curious of what really happened to Daniel and the secrets Alex Frank's dad was hiding. It was because of that that I continued to read until the end.

The position that Emma is in really made me connect with her and I found myself being torn and heartbroken just like she was. I felt her grief and her pain as she dealt with the death of her boyfriend, Daniel. I have to give the author her credit for doing such a great job in portraying Emma's grief so well.

However, I wasn't so surprised when Emma found out about Daniel's ex-best-friend's secrets. I managed to pick up on the hints that were scattered all throughout the book. One of the things that really bothers me when I read is that sometimes somethings happens and "somehow" the characters doesn't pick up on it but the reader does. It makes me wonder whether the author is undermining their reader's intelligence or not.

There was also something about the way the author wrote some parts that had me a little confuse and quite honestly, distracted me from the story. I'm not sure whether that was intentional or not but I'm sure that being pulled away from the story because you're trying a unique way of writing and saying this is not what you want your readers to experience.

Overall, I found the book to be an enjoyable read and full of suspense to keep you turning the page.My only issue with the book was how everything was wrapped up nicely in the end. It was too much of a perfect ending which makes it unrealistic for me. Because of that, I can't give this book a higher rating than 2.5 stars.

Mini Review: Radiant by Cynthia Hand

Radiant (Unearthly, #2.5)Radiant (Unearthly #2.5) by Cynthia Hand
Release Date: December 4, 2012
Publisher: HarperTeen Impulse
Source: Personal Copy
Links: Amazon / Barnes & Noble / Goodreads / HarperTeen

My rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars

Goodreads Summary: From New York Times bestselling author Cynthia Hand comes a riveting original novella (available only as an ebook) set in the world of the Unearthly series.

Clara is desperate to get away - from the memories that haunt her in Wyoming and the visions of a future she isn't ready to face - and spending the summer in Italy with her best friend Angela, should be the perfect escape...

For as long as she can remember, Angela has been told that love is dangerous, that she must always guard her heart. But when she met a mysterious guy in Italy two years ago she determined to be with him, no matter the costs. Now she must decide whether she can trust Clara with her secret, or it telling her the truth will risk everything she cares about.

Alternating between Angela and Clara's perspective, Radiant chronicles the unforgettable summer that will test the bounds of their friendship and change their lives forever.

Radiant was a quick read and it got me even more excited Boundless' release for today. It satisfied my missing Unearthly-world as well as piqued my curiosity about Angela.

I was never a big fan of Angela since I never fully trusted her and was always wary when Clara would share personal information with her. I was always suspicious of Angela and feared what she may do with that information. And after learning what happens in Italy, I just don't trust her at all.

Angela always preached that there be no secrets between Clara and her, and in Angel Club as well. She was always focused on learning everything about everyone but never once volunteering information about herself.

Now, I'm off to start Boundless. I'm super sad to see the series come to an end but I can't wait to see how everything plays out. (And maybe see some sort of happy ending for Tucker? I'm a sucker punishment, I know.)

Cover Reveal and Giveaway - Blurred by Tara Fuller

Today I have the cover reveal of Blurred  by Tara Fuller. It is slated to be release on July 2, 2013 by Entangled Teen.

I abso-freaking-lutely love this cover. The white, flowy dress and the arms on that boy? Heyyy boy heyyy. It's definitely Anaya and Cash.

Blurb: Cash is haunted by things. Hungry, hollow things. They only leave him alone when Anaya, Heaven's beautiful reaper, is around. Cash has always been good with girls, but Anaya isn't like the others. She's dead. And with his deteriorating health, Cash might soon be as well.

Anaya never breaks the rules, but the night of the fire she recognized part of Cash's soul - and doomed him to something worse than death. Cash's soul now resides in an expired body, making him a shadow walker - a rare, coveted being that can walk between worlds. A being creatures of the underwold would do anything to get their hands on.

The lines between life and death are blurring, and Anaya and Cash find themselves falling helplessly over the edge. Trapped in a world where the living don't belong, can Cash make it out alive?

About the author:
Tara Fuller writes novels. Some about grim reapers. Some about witches. All of course are delightfully full of teen angst and kissing. Tara grew up in a one stoplight town in Oklahoma where once upon a time she stayed up with a flash light reading R.L. Stine novels and only dreamed of becoming a writer. She has a slight obsession with music and a shameless addiction for zombie fiction, Mystery Science Theater, and black and white mochas. Tara no longer lives in a one stop light town. Now she lives with her family in a slightly larger town in North Caroline where they have at least three stoplights.

Quotes (#19)

tehehehe...

Morning lovelies, I hope everyone had a lovely weekend. I went to a housewarming party and continued planning my sis-in-law's baby shower. Lots and lots of fun.

"Sometimes you don't know what you need until it's gone." - Ilsa J. Bick, Ashes

"Love blurs your vision; but after it recedes, you can see more clearly than ever. It's like the tide going out, revealing whatever's been thrown away and sunk: broken bottles, old gloves, rusting pop cans, nibbled fishbodies, bones. This is the kind of thing you see if you sit in the darkness with open eyes, not knowing the future." - Margaret Atwood, Cat's Eye

"Without music, life would be a mistake." - Friedrich Nietzsche, Twilight of the Idols

"She existed in her friends; there she was. All the parts of herself she'd forgotten. She knew herself best when she was with them." - Ann Brashares, Sisterhood Everlasting

"If you're scared, tell me. If you need to cry and scream, then do it. And you sure as hell don't walk away from us because you think it would be better for me. Here's the reality, Echo: I want to be by your side. If you want to go to the mall stark naked so you can show the world your scars, then let me hold your hand. If you want to see your mom, then tell me that too. I may not always understand, but damn, baby, I'll try." - Katie McGarry, Pushing the Limits

Hiya lovelies, so I just finished reading Through the Ever Night by Veronica Rossi and HOMGGGG! I HAD ALL THE SWOONS. Through the Ever Night was amazing and I'm looking forward to sharing my thoughts on it. But for today, I had such a hard time picking some swoon-worthy quotes to share with you. But I think I made the right choice. Here it is:

Through the Ever Night (Under the Never Sky, #2)

He traced the line of her spine with his thumbs. Everything about her was graceful and strong. She drew back and met his eyes.
"This..." He was going to tell her that this was how they should've come together, days ago in the woods. This was what he thought about all winter - what he'd missed. But he couldn't get past the way she felt, or the way she was looking at him.
"Yes," she said. "This."
Perry bent and kissed her lips. She curved against him, her sigh a warm drift against his cheek, and then nothing existed beyond her mouth and her skin and the feel of her body against his.

So yea....I need book 3 to come out. Stat. If you haven't read this series, I urge you to do so. You will love. And to make things even better, there are TWO swoony boys in this book. Perry and Roar. Oh, I love me some swoony boys.

What are you swooning over?

Darkness Haunts

Book Details: Melena Sanders faced her fair share of danger with insurgents and terrorists when she served in the U.S. Army, but now she is about to go up against a new threat. Her best friend, Aniya, has disappeared while on a trip to Fairbanks, Alaska - a supernatural haven. Most human have no idea darker races lurk amongst them. Mel has always known better. If she wants to get her friend back, she's going to have to go in alone - but not unarmed.

Melena has a few special skills the Army didn't provide, but the odds are still against her. She's got to come up with a plan fast that doesn't involve her, or her friend, dying. But danger likes to play it rough. A war for power is about to rise in Fairbanks and if she wants to Aniya back, she's going to have to step right into the middle of it.

Author's Bio: Instead of making the traditional post high school move and attending college, Susan joined the U.S. Army. She spent her eighteenth birthday in the gas chamber - an experience she is sure is best left for criminals. For eleven years she served first as a human resources specialist and later as an Arabic linguist (mostly in Airborne units). Though all her duty assignments were stateside, she did make two deployments to Iraq where her language skills were to put to regular use.

After leaving the service in 2009, Susan returned to school to study history with a focus on the Middle East. She no longer finds many opportunities to test her fighting abilities in real life, unless her husband is demanding she cook him a real meal, but she's found a new outlet in writing urban fantasy heroines who can.

Hello lovelies! I haven't done a teaser in some time but I've been reading this book that has me quoting it all over on Twitter. So, I decided that it would be an even better time to this feature this week. Here are my quotes:

Through the Ever Night by Veronica Rossi
(source)
"I got that, thanks. Did he just call you pretty?"
Roar nodded, chewing. "Can you blame him?" ~ Page 33 of 341, Through the Ever Night Veronica Rossi.
(I love me some Roar and yes, I do agree, he is pretty.)

"Perry bent and kissed her lips. She curved against him, her sigh a warm drift against his cheek, and then nothing existed beyond her mouth and her skin and the feel of her body against his." ~ Page 49 of 341, Through the Ever Night by Veronica Rossi.
(Perry is just so *sigh* swoony.)

What are you teasing this week?

Quotes (#18)

Hiya pretties! It been a while but I've missed you guys!
(source)
Too much stuff to do and so little time. Baby shower planning for the sis in law and getting over a cold has me exhausted. I barely even had time to write this post. I hope that with upcoming weeks I'll be able to get back in the swing of things. But in the meantime, here are some quotes!

"Fine. Let Ranger get someone else. Trust me, you don't want to be out looking for a parking place on Sloane in the middle of the night."
"I won't have to look for a parking place. Tank's picking me up."
"You're working with a guy named Tank?"
"He's big."
"Jesus," Morelli said. "I had to fall in love with a woman who works with a guy named Tank."
"You love me?"
"Of course I love you. I just don't want to marry you." - Janet Evanovich, High Five

"I look at her there in the shadows of the shut-down city, her hair falling onto her face, and I can see her trying to figure out if I've lost it. And I have to fight the urge to take her by the shoulders and slam her against a shuttered building until we feel the vibrations ringing through both of us. Because I suddenly want to hear her bones rattle. I want to feel the softness of her flesh give, to hear her gasp as my hip bone jams into her. I want to yank her back until her neck is exposed. I want to rip my hands through her hair until her breath is labored. I want to make her cry and then lick up the tears. And then I want to take my mouth to hers, to devour her alive, to transmit all the things she can't understand." - Gayle Forman, Where She Went

" Sometimes I can hear my bones straining under the weight of all the lives I'm not living." - Jonathan Safran Foer, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close

"There are two things to aim at in life; first to get what you want, and after that to enjoy it. Only the wisest of mankind has achieved the second" -  Logan Pearsall Smith

"Now Sophia, would you care to tell me why you're here by the pond instead of reporting to your next class?"
"I'm experiencing some teenage angst, Mrs. Casnoff," I answered. "I need to, like, write in my journal or something." - Rachel Hawkins, Hex Hall

Shatter Me (Shatter Me, #1)"Because I want her. Now. Here. Everywhere. I want nothing between us. I want her clothes off and the lights on and I want to study her. I want to unzip her of this dress and take my time with every inch of her. I can't help but my need to just stare; to know her and her features: the slope of her nose, the curve of her lips, the line of her jaw. I want to run my fingertips across the soft skin of her neck and trace it all the way down. I want to feel the weight of her pressed against me, wrapped around me." - Warner, Destroy Me

The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer (Mara Dyer, #1)"Fuck seventeen." His eyes and voice were defiant. "If I were to live a thousand years, I would belong to you for all of them. If we were to live a thousand lives, I would want to make you mine in each one." - Noah Shaw, The Evolution of Mara Dyer

**This is a Did Not Finish review. I did not read the whole book so this is just my thoughts up to what I read.**

I was given a chance by Atria Books (an imprint of Simon & Schuster) to read an egalley of Love Unscripted after I requested a copy on NetGalley. I had read the synopsis of the book and I loved it. Actor/musician falling for a regular person love story just fascinates me. However, I just couldn't finish this book. I had to give up on it.

I felt like we were told so many insignificant information about everything that it drags the story down and makes it longer than it needs to be. I also didn't end up caring very much for Taryn and Ryan and found them  to be very tedious and boring.

I tried to continue reading but I just had to give up. Especially after trying to read it for a month and a half and only reaching 200 pages, which was only 17% of the book. I also managed to read five other books in between reading this one. I basically wanted to read and do everything else but read about Taryn and Ryan's Love Unscripted.
